The Exorcist is a classic novel by author William Peter Blatty. The book is about a little girl who undergoes an exorcism. The narrative mostly focuses on themes of religious faith, the nuclear family, and the supernatural. These themes throughout the novel are carried throughout its cover design. Inspiration was gathered from Helen Crawford White’s illustrations. This design utilizes the form of a grid. Using the grid allows for some spaces to be broken apart and taken away to show the deterioration and breakdown that can be seen of characters throughout The Exorcist.
